Open alotment fun

Franband had great fun playing at the open alotments at the weekend. Our new piece Lakme’s Flower duet sounded great along with other classics like What a wonderful world, Game of thrones theme, and Don’t worry be Happy. Videos of our performance can be found on our facebook page by clicking on the link below. Thanks to everyone who took part and supported the event and for busing us from one site to the next. In all £1400 was raised for cancer charities!IMG-20190709-WA000020190707_110313_007.jpg20190707_122147.jpg

It’s fair Fayre!

Hi everyone just an update on the bands festive frivolities!

We played at the Christmas fayre on Friday again to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer Ation. Everyone did brilliantly, well done gang!

Our next performance is on Friday the 14th of December at St.Hughes church Hall, Granville St, Market Harborough. We will warm up and go over a few iffy bits at the normal time and then start our informal performance at 8pm.

We’ll play for about an hour and then it’s mulled wine and snacks. Please feel free to bring chums and remind them to make a donation to Pancreatic Cancer Action. We will be collecting on the night or please click on the link below.

Curry Night

Hi everyone we are having a curry night after band on the 9th of March which is near my birthday. Kathy Davidson is head of the curry department so please contact her with your order or use the contact page on here and I’ll forward it to her. The curry house is the Cinnamon lounge across the road from where we rehearse and their website is

Thanks!

Next Gig for charidy!

Hey everyone, wow you guys sounded amazing last night!. I’m going to start recording you so you can have a listen back on here. The classical stuff (Handel and Vivaldi) seems to work surprisingly well on the Clarinet and Saxophone. The jazzy O When the Saints also sounded great and the pink Panther in the advanced group went much better than expected. Thanks Gordon for purchasing this music for us.

So just a reminder that there is another rehearsal next week too. Can you all look in your diaries before then to see if you are busy on the Saturday the 21st of April?

We have been asked to play at the Specsavers charity event for the children’s charity Rainbows. There is a show tunes theme. It won’t last all day so if you are only available for part of the day let me know times and we can try to structure this around people’s availability.

Thanks and well Done !

Happy New Year, new pieces, new term!

Hey everyone band is back onto tonight. Please bring your diary so we can look at dates for rehearsals etc.

New pieces for this term are When the Saints for the intermediate section of rehearsal and Pink Panther for the advanced. Please bring the classical set that we have looked at before but not yet mastered.

We will have a new player tonight called Tim. He’s coming along to join us for this evening to see if he feels ready to join us so please give him lots of support.

Catch you all later!

Its the season to give a little bit!

Hey thanks everyone for taking part and donating money, time and food to Fridays fund raiser for pancreatic cancer action.

We raised £176 !

The mulled wine Kathy made was all gone as was most of the food!

I have a bottle of left behind Schleor which will stagnate in my fridge in the hope it’ll ferment eventually into wine!

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Oxjam on Saturday. It was very kind of Liz to help out on Bari and I got her a plant as a thank you.

So this time of year is a time to plan for the new year. Please use the comments box on here for any ideas as to where you would like to play and pieces you’re interested in?

Also if you click on follow at the bottom of this blog it should ask for your email address and then you’ll be able to follow blogs automatically.  This should keep you up to date with band plans!

Thanks again everyone, seasons greetings and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year !
